He was handsome. He was good looking. He’s got face worth Hollywood stars. But boxing and boozing kept him in the limelight and his onlookers were worried about his acting career.
In the early nineties, he started his career as a professional boxer. While he won six out of six matches, it took a toll on his good looks.
The mess he got from his boxing days was needing reconstructive surgeries and even more care. But the plastic surgeon failed to arrange his face together.
In 2009 he talked about his reconstructive surgery, telling the MailOnline: ‘Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together.
Apart from the usual mess, Mickey Rourke’s boxing injuries include broken nose, toe, and ribs, a split tongue, and a compressed cheekbone. And short-term memory loss.
To rearrange his face, he underwent few serious surgeries. The extent of which is depicted in what told The Daily Mail in 2009.
“I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone. I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn’t healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was hemorrhoids,” he told The Daily Mail in 2009 “Most of [the surgery] was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,’ he says.

After a series of botched plastic surgeries in 2008, he underwent another reconstructive surgery in 2012 and regained his face back. The face once full of wrinkles and craggy free-flowing skin looked tanned and toned again. Silver hair extensions, a goatee and a mustache added to his masculinity.
